With property and revenue values continually shrinking, municipalities and public agencies are seeking out cost-effective contract services. No stranger to the public sector, Calvin, Giordano & Associates (CGA) has gained considerable recognition over the last several decades on projects for over three dozen municipalities and public agencies, including Weston, West Park, Pembroke Pines, West Palm Beach, Miramar, Wellington, Hollywood, Surfside, Sunny Isles and Loxahatchee Groves in South Florida.
Our newly formed Redevelopment and Urban Design Division was created to focus on the physical development of urban sites. Led by a veteran International City/County Management Association (ICMA)-recognized professional, the Redevelopment segment works on behalf of local Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs); the Urban Design segment helps facilitate community design challenges.
Employing an integrated multi-disciplinary approach, the division boasts a team with extensive academic backgrounds and experience in engineering, traffic engineering, surveying, construction management, code inspection, planning and zoning, landscape architecture, web design and management and geographic information system services.
Redevelopment
The CGA team successfully revitalizes and improves communities, as well as underutilized properties or sites faced with development challenges or environmental issues. With a watchful eye on historic and cultural nuances, we provide practical, safe and cost-effective design solutions that create unity, a sense of community and local jobs.
Our roster of redevelopment consulting services is all-inclusive, encompassing identification, acquisition/assemblage, remediation and development. With CRA goals in mind, we develop an organizational and financial structure to maximize CRA resources, negotiate land agreements, ensure all state guidelines are met, plan and implement CRA grants, help get the community on board and manage the day-to-day from concept through construction.
Urban Design
With expertise available under one roof, and extensive experience working with government officials and stakeholders, CGA seamlessly develops sustainable cities, downtowns and neighborhoods. Focusing on the built environment, we incorporate land use planning and development — from architecture and urban design, to transportation and systems design — into an overall realistic urban design that relates well to the community and region. We consider the past history and economic obstacles, as well as environmental impact and the diverse populations within the community. The result is a balance of aesthetic, economic, environmental, social and political challenges to meet the public’s needs. Recent land use projects include urban revitalization, suburban subdivisions, ski and golf resorts and retail/office/commercial development.
