City Alternative Water Supply Plan (AWS)

The City of Pembroke Pines is embarking on an ambitious journey into the emerging world of environmental sustainability. Under the unfunded mandates of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), the City Commission has resolved to proceed with a massive, City-wide wastewater reclamation project known as the City Alternative Water Supply Plan (AWS). The City intends to re-direct, re-purify and re-use all of the wastewater generated by its residents, commercial and industrial contributors. The project officially began for CGA in June of 2009 and will have a 5-year duration.
